Rangnekar hit back against Manjrekar

Mumbai, May 2: Khandu Rangnekar enjoyed a day of mixed fortunes as the 14th Sportstar Trophy MCA under-19 selection cricket tournament got underway in the city on Tuesday.

Playing Majrekar XI at the Wankhede Stadium, Rangnekar XI were eight for three wickets after choosing to bat. Sangram Bagul (69: 9x4) and Sumeet Mallarpurkar (26) helped Rangnekar reach 145.

Manjrekar XI were then left tottering at 65-5 at the close of play after Avishkar Salvi made most of the conditions with two scalps.

At the Brabourne Stadium, Dattu Phadkar XI lost their top three batsmen on 12 after dismissing Vijay Merchant XI for 243. A sixth-wicket stand of 82 between Vinit Indulkar (43) and Swapnil Khadye (51: 66b) helped Merchant XI recover from 130-5.
