One killed, 3 hurt in police firing
PRESS TRUST OF INDIA

July 17: One person was killed and three others were injured in police firing when a mob attacked a police party at Akhriganj under Bhagawangola police station today. Seven policemen were injured and two government cars damaged in brickbatting by the mob. Trouble started when villagers prevented people engaged in work on checking erosion of Ganga, from throwing boulders in the flooded river, the police said. Agitating villagers complained that the boulders should have been brought earlier and alleged that it would be misuse of money if the boulders were used for checking errosion of the river during monsoon.
