Alone she was in her husband's death...
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE

CALCUTTA, JULY 18: The scene was no different from Monday evening for Rupa Dey, when she returned from Patna with the coffin carrying the dead-body of her husband, yesterday.

She had boarded the Monday evening flight to Patna to bring back the remains of her husband, Sandip Dey, who perished in the plane-crash. And when she arrived an hour after Monday midnight, she was alone again -- this time, a little more helpless, with the coffin carrying the dead-body.

She looked on for familiar faces which did not appear, amidst heart-rending scenes at the airport, with 12 dead-bodies and their relatives who also arrived with her.

As time passed at the airport lobby, she stood alone, while others had gone home... till the arrival of railway minister Mamata Banerjee on the scene. The Union Minister came and touched her. According to an eyewitness account, Mamata Banerjee, made arrangements for her departure back home.

On Monday morning, young Rupa had wept profusely as she awaited the flight to Patna to bring back her husband's body. However, the evening saw her brooding and silent, sitting with a male-relative, struggling hard to come to terms with the misfortune.

When asked how she came to know about the disaster, her relative replied: ``We were informed by the airport authorities.'' She left quietly for Patna when the call came.
