HYDERABAD, JULY 24: Andhra Pradesh Governor C Rangarajan escaped unhurt while his wife Haripriya Rangarajan suffered injuries in a freak mishap in their bedroom in Raj Bhavan in the wee hours of Monday. According to Raj Bhavan sources, a portion of the ceiling of the First Couple's bedroom caved in and the debris fell on Haripriya Rangarajan at about 4 am. She suffered injuries on her right leg while the Governor escaped miraculously. The Governor himself came out of the room and called for help. Haripriya Rangarajan was immediately rushed to Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), where she was operated upon. Her condition is said to be stable. "She suffered soft tissue injury on the shin of right leg. After medical examinations, a team of doctors comprising plastic surgeons, orthopedists and anesthetists performed the operation under general anesthesia and sutured the injured portion," said NIMS medical superintendent T Dayakar. According to him, Haripriya Rangarajan luckily did not suffer any fracture and was kept in the respiratory intensive care unit for a few years before being shifted to special room.
