Brad Pitt weds TV star Jennifer Aniston

LOS ANGELES, JULY 30: Movie star Brad Pitt tied the knot late on Saturday with television actress Jennifer Aniston at a private oceanfront ceremony, local media here reported. Some 200 guests attended the Malibu wedding, held in the garden of a well-known television executive's Pacific Ocean retreat.

The cost of the wedding, including fireworks and an iron-clad security detail, was rumoured to exceed $one million. Local television reported that the popular group, the Gipsy Kings, were the wedding band at the event, while the guest list reportedly included actresses Salma Hayek, Cameron Diaz, Farrah Fawcett, among other stars.

Hollywood's premier couple began dating in 1998, and rumours of their impending nuptials had intensified in recent months. It is the first marriage for both, although Pitt was briefly engaged to Oscar-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow, which whom he had a highly-publicized, two-and-half year-long liaison. Pitt, one of the best-known and highest paid US actors, achieved sex symbol status with his breakthrough cameo role in the 1991 film Thelma and Louise." He has since had starring roles in films such as Seven

, Fight Club, Meet Joe Black, and Seven Years in Tibet. His bride Aniston also has performed several times for the big screen, but is best known for her role in the hit television series Friends.
