Muslims irked by Mamata's `burkha'
Express News Service

MUMBAI, JULY 30: North Mumbai District Muslim League president Gulam Rasul Khan has condemned the misuse of `burkha' by film-actress Mamta Kulkarni during the latter's apperance in the Esplanade Court on July 28.

The actress appeared in a burkha before Additional Chief Metropolitan Court K H Holambe Patil. Khan said she has hurt the sentiments of the Muslims, especially because she was earlier credited with an obscene photograph in a film-magazine. He has maintained that a burkha is a cover used by Muslim women, and it cannot be used ``as a weapon to protect oneself from public''. He has warned her against using the same on any future occasion.
