Dy Speaker pulls up Sharad Yadav for flight delay

NEW DELHI, AUG 7: Civil Aviation Minister Sharad Yadav was on Monday pulled up in the Lok Sabha by Deputy Speaker P M Sayeed for the delay of an Indian Airlines flight from Hyderabad due to which Speaker G M C Balayogi, along with several MPs, were unable to reach the Capital in time to attend Parliament.

Soon after the House assembled, Yerran Naidu (TDP) raised the issue saying the Speaker and several members have been held up at Hyderabad airport.

Taking note of the delay in Hyderabad flight, Sayeed said "it is a serious matter and the Minister should take note of it."

HEALTH MINISTERS' MEET: State Health Ministers will meet here on August 31 to chalk out an action plan to improve the existing infrastructure in the health sector, the Lok Sabha was informed. Minister for Health and Family Welfare C P Thakur said the Central and State Governments have taken several initiatives to improve the health infrastructure though much more needs to be done.

AIR TRAFFIC: National carriers are utilising about 39 per cent of their international air traffic rights available under the Air Services Agreements, the Lok Sabha was informed. Minister for Civil Aviation Sharad Yadav said the low utilisation was mainly due to non-availability of aircraft capacity and inadequate traffic potential on certain routes.

NHRC PAY PANEL BILL: A Bill seeking to enable implementation of the Fifth Pay Commission recommendations with retrospective effect for officers and staff of the National Human Rights Commission was introduced in the Lok Sabha. Minister of State for Home C Vidya Sagar Rao introduced the Protection of Human Rights (Amendment) Bill amid uproarious scences with Congress members demanding a judicial probe into the Kashmir massacres.

DTH BROADCASTING: A group of Ministers has been constituted to consider issues connected with Direct to Home (DTH) Broadcasting in the country, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Arun Jaitley informed the Rajya Sabha.
