Former CM's nephews arrested on charges of attempted rape

JAIPUR, AUGUST 26: Rajasthan police today arrested three young men, two of them nephews of former state chief minister and senior Congress leader Jagannath Pahadia, for allegedly attempting to rape an 18-year-old girl at Bhusavar town in Bharatpur district. The accused had set her ablaze when she put up resistance.

The girl was admitted to the local government hospital where she isundergoing treatment for burns. The accused were identified by the victim as Rakesh Pahadia, Brij Mohan Pahadia and Naresh Chand.

Bharatpur district Superintendent of Police Ponnu Chamy, told The Indian Express over the phone that Naresh Chand will also soon be arrested.

Police sources said the victim was the daughter of an upper division clerk ofa government school in a neighbouring village. She was alone at herhome when the accused barged into the house around 11 am. When the girl, a first-year undergraduate student, raised an alarm, the assailants set her ablaze. Neighbours who rushed in managed to douse the fire but could not nab the culprits.
