NBA misleading tribals -- MP depty CM

BHOPAL, AUG 28: The Madhya Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister, Jamuna Devi, has alleged that the volunteers and leaders of Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) were ``misleading the tribals in the submergence areas of Sardar Sarovar Project, thereby adding to their agonies and problems''.

Addressing a massive gathering of affected tribals at village Madwada, 30 km from Badwani district headquarters last evening, she said that during her tour of the district, she had received complaints that NBA volunteers were not letting small farmers receive compensation whereas big farmers have already received the same.

The area has been experiencing dry spells for the last three year, Jamuna Devi said and asked, ``Do the NBA leaders have any scheme for providing education, health and drinking-water facilities and employment to the affected people?''

``Development works were absent in the area due to submergence and people are not getting even basic amenities'', the deputy Chief Minister said.
