Soren not acceptable as CM -- AJSU
PRESS TRUST OF INDIA

JAMSHEDPUR, AUG 28: The All Jharkhand Students Union(AJSU) today said it would oppose chargesheeted JMM President Sibu Soren as the Chief Ministerial candidate of the proposed Jharkhand state. It would support the RJD-Congress in government formation if Sibu Soren was projected as the CM.

"Any tribal leader other than a chargesheeted leader like Soren is acceptable to us for the Chief Minister's post," AJSU Convenor Surya Singh Besra said.

Besra, the founder President of AJSU, said it was not opposed to the candidature of senior BJP leader Karia Munda, Union Minister Babulal Marandi or any other JMM candidate for the Chief Minister's post.

Asked whether AJSU would extend support to the RJD-Congress coalition in Jharkhand in case the BJP-led NDA proposed Soren's name for the top post, Besra said AJSU and its ally Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (Democratic) will not hesitate to support them (RJD-Congress) in that case.

"However, our first preference would be the NDA Government led by a tribal leader," the convenor of AJSU, which is expected to play a crucial role in the government formation of proposed Jharkhand state, said.
