Anti-dumping on EPDM

SEP 3: Confirming the preliminary findings by the Directorate of Anti-Dumping and Allied Duties, the designated authority under the Commerce Ministry said "dumped exports from Korea have depressed the prices of EPDM in the domestic market and forced the domestic industry to sell at unremunerative prices, resulting in decline in net sales realisation, Financial losses to the domestic industry." However, the authority did not impose any anti-dumpingduty on Ethylene Propylene Rubber (EPM) as no exports had been made during the period of investigation and the end uses of EPDM and EPM were different.

"In view of no imports evidenced from response ofexporters, importers and information furnished by the petitioner, the authority holds the imports of EPM from Korea as deminimus," it said.

The petitioner, Herdillia Unimers Ltd had complained thatEPDM was being dumped into India from Korea and expressed apprehension that EPDM was being exported as EPM to avail of lower custom duty.
