PM underwent pre-operative evolutions at AIIMS
UNITED NEWS OF INDIA

NEW DELHI, OCT 2: Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee today underwent pre-operative evolutions involving all tests required before the knee surgery at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here.

Vajpayee is scheduled to fly to Mumbai on October 8 to get the surgery done at the Breach Candy Hospital, Ashok Tandon, media advisor to the Prime Minister said.

He is expected to be operated upon on October 10 and will remain in the hospital for four or five days after the surgery. He is expected to return to Delhi on October 18 and resume official work from his residence from that day.

The Prime Minister has been experiencing intense pain in his knee-joints for the past few months and had to return abruptly to Delhi from the BJP's nagpur session on August 27 without addressing it.

Later, he was examined by a team of doctors at the AIIMS, headed by institute Chief Dr Dave, who had recommended the surgery. He also sought second opinion from Dr C Ranavat during his United States visit, who agreed to perform the surgery in India as per the convenience of the Prime Minister.
