`Saudi' impersonator arrested along with 3 others

ALUVA, OCT 14: A 27 year-old man from Thane in Mumbai, who impersonated as a Saudi national and promised jobs to about 60 persons in Riyadh, was arrested along with his three other accomplices by Police here on Saturday.

Mohammad Shameem, who spoke only `Arabic' and used a translator, had come here along with his accomplices on October 12. He had submitted a copy of his passport to the hotel authroites and had stated that he was in town for recruiting about 60 persons in the posts of welders and other jobs, police said.

The recuritment was to have been made through a travel agency here. However, the hotel authorities and the travel agency smelt something amiss and sent the copies of the documents submitted by the accused to the Saudi Consulate in Mumbai to verify his creditentials and found that they were fake.

The recuitments were to begin on Saturday morning. Immediately, police was informed and arrested the culprits. The arrested are Durgannad (40) from Kannur, Bhaskar Shetty (54) from Hebri in Mangalore, M N Tiwari (34) from Thane.

Case under cheating and impersonation has been charged against the four.
