RSS trying to fuel social rift in Jharkhand -- Laloo
CALCUTTA, NOV 18: Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Laloo Prasad Yadav today charged the RSS with trying to create social tension in the newly-formed Jharkhand state. Claiming that reports of ethnic and political clashes in Bihar were `exaggerated', Yadav said "Chief Minister Rabri Devi and I are being repeatedly asked such questions on the issue which is a 40-year legacy. Through this, wrong signals are being sent about Bihar to the outside world". Lambasting the RSS, he said the Sangh had virtually edged out the tribal leadership which had made Jharkhand possible through decades of struggle. "Those who made Jharkhand a reality have no importance in the Sangh's scheme of things. They have been edged out and outsiders installed," Yadav said, in an obvious reference to the installation of NDA nominee Babulal Marandi as Jharkhand Chief Minister. "I'm afraid RSS is out to create social tension in the new state through its machinations, Yadav said. Copyright © 2000 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
