Manipur political crisis continues
PRESS TRUST OF INDIA

IMPHAL, NOV 18: The political crisis in Manipur remained unresolved for the fourth day running as the stand-off between the Chief Minister, W Nipamacha Singh and the speaker, S Dhananjay Singh continued today.

The speaker who was critical of the functioning of Nipamacha Singh government yesterday disqualified Horticulture Minister, Thangminlien Kipgen under anti-defection law with eight more such cases still pending before him.

The fate of the 10-month-old United Legislature Front ministry largely depends on the fortunes of the eight MLAs as Nipamacha Singh presently commands support of 37 legislators in the 60-member house, Front sources said.

In a bid to come out of the crisis, the ruling Front has decided to move a no-confidence motion early next month.
