EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE

PATIALA, NOV 20: The Patiala district police today conducted raids at many places to nab Fauj Inder Singh, brother of Punjab Minister of State for Public Works Ajaib Singh Mukhmailpur, who has been named an accused in the Bhedpura firing incident that took place on Saturday.

Senior Superintendent of Police Harpreet Singh Sidhu said police parties were conducting raids in search of the persons named in the FIR but had not made any breakthough yet.

Two persons, Balwant Singh and Nahar Singh, were injured in a shoot-out on Saturday and the Samana Police registered a case of attempt to murder against Fauj Inder Singh, and three dozen other persons. A case under Sections 307/324/323/447/448 and 149 of the IPC was registered on the basis of a statement made by Nahar Singh.

Both Nahar singh and Balwant Singh are presently undergoing treatment at the Government Rajindra Hospital.

The SSP said three of the accused, named in the FIR, had been arrested while efforts were on to trace the absconders.

Nahar Singh had said that he, along with Balwant Singh, were injured when a group of about 30-40 persons, led by Fauj Inder Singh, attacked them where they objected to the accused who had attempted to plough Balwant Singh's fields.

A dispute has been going over a piece of land between Fauj Inder Singh and Balwant Singh.
