MSRTC to restart bus services
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE

NAGPUR, NOV 21: The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) will restart the bus services which have been discontinued from November 28 onwards, State Minister for Transport Shivajirao Moghe announced at Narkhed near here on Sunday.

The minister, who was speaking after inaugurating the newly-constructed bus station at Narkhed, said that the services are being restarted following demands from passengers. Chairman of MSRTC, MLA Sudhakar Paricharak presided over the function while Minister of State for School Education Anil Deshmukh and Narkhed Municipal Council chief Sanjay Charde were present.

Moghe further announced that the MSRTC has now decided to ply a batch of buses which will have 49 seats instead of the usual 55 seats. The Corporation is planning to launch 19 seater conducterless mini-buses on both long and short routes. The corporation has purchased 2,000 new buses this year to provide more facilities to commuters. It has also launched a scheme of constructing commercial complexes adjacent to the bus stations.

Anil Deshmukh, while speaking on the occasion, said that with the construction of the Rs 15 lakh bus station, a long pending demand of the residents of Narkhed has been fulfilled. A bus station will soon be approved at Swargaon village, he added.

Paricharak urged upon the ST employees to behave politely with the commuters, as they are the focal point of ST services. Saying that MSRTC services are best known for minimum cases of accidents, he urged commuters to go for ST buses rather than private bus services.

Introductory remarks were made by deputy general manager M D Chavan while P P Umbarkar conducted the proceedings. Divisional controller Sukir Sontakke proposed the vote of thanks.
