Hizb men, 4 Armymen die despite J&K truce
PRESS TRUST OF INDIA

Srinagar, Nov 26: A day after the Army instructed all field commanders to stop combat operations against militants during Ramadan in conformity with the Centre's unilateral announcement of ceasefire in the state, security forces today shot dead two militants of Pakistan-based militant outfit Hizbul Mujahideen. Besides, four soldiers were killed when ultras attacked an Army patrol.

Security forces gunned down the two Hizbul activists early today, official sources said. A pistol and some ammunition were recovered from the slain militants.

Sources said four soldiers were killed when militants opened indiscriminate fire on a patrol party in Pothshahi forest in frontier district of Kupwara last evening. The troops retaliated but the militants managed to escape taking advantage of the thick forest.

Security personnel recovered a big cache of weapons, including rocket launchers, remote control devices, anti-tank grenades and mines and 24 kg of explosives in the border district of Kupwara and arrested ten people in connection with arms smuggling.
