Haryana, Services Ranji match ends in a draw

New Delhi, November 26: Haryana earned five points by virtue of their first innings lead over Services in their North Zone Ranji Trophy league match which ended in a draw on the fourth and the final day here on Sunday.

Services, whose innings folded at 327 as their last wicket fell after adding 15 runs to their overnight 312 for nine, conceded a 62-run lead to Haryana who had scored 389 in their first innings.

Brief scores: ana: 392 and 176 for 8 dec. (Parinder Sharma 103 n.o.) drew

Services: 327 and 152 for 7 (Harish Bhaskar 30, Sarabjit Singh 51; Amit Mishra 3-69).

Saurashtra on backfoot

VADODARA: Saurashtra were 64 for three in reply to Baroda's 481 all out on the second day of West Zone Ranji Trophy encounter being played at the Gujarat State Fertilizer Corporation (GSFC) Ground here.

The Baroda spinner I Pathan restricted Saurashtra batsmen and took three wickets in just 28 runs. At stumps, Rakesh Dhruv and Prakash Bhatt were at the crease with 21 and 12 runs respectively.

Resuming at the overnight score of 275 for four, Baroda batsmen Himanshu Jadhav (79) and S Parab (7) started steadily, kept moving the scoreboard with single and twos.

Jadhav who made 165 runs hits 18 boundaries. S Mehta and H Parsana took three wickets each for Saurashtra.

Brief score: Baroda:

481 (H Jadhav 165, T Arothe 78) vs Saurashtra: 64-3 (I Pathan 3-28).

Tripura recover

JAMSHEDPUR: A spirited 61 runs by Mridul Gupta and a ninth wicket unbeaten partnership of 56 runs helped Tripura score a modest 213 runs for eight wickets on the first day of the four-day Ranji Trophy match between them here on Sunday.

Bihar won the toss and sent Tripura to bat, who were in trouble in the very beginning losing opener Pranab Debnath for four runs only.

Tight bowling and fielding by Bihar saw Tripura wickets fall at regular intervals.

Brief scores: Tripura:

213 for 8 (Mridul Gupta 61, V Projapati not out 38).

Bengal restrict Assam

GUWAHATI: Bengal spinner S Lahiri scalped four wickets to restrict Assam to a modest total of 271 for nine wickets on the first day of the four-day Ranji Trophy match between them here on Sunday.

The home team won the toss and had a sound beginning and scored 127 runs for none, when both the openers fell with the same score on the board.

Left-handed Subhrajit Saikia (34) was the first to go to Lahiri, while the other opener Parag Das (68) fell to Utpal Chatterjee in the next over.

The slide continued thereafter with the wicket showing some turn as Assam batsmen continued to return to the pavilion at regular intervals.

Brief scores: Assam:

271 for nine. (Parag Das 68, R Bora 55, S Saikia 34; S Lahiri 4-65, U Chatterjee 3-50).
