Orissa yet to utilise entire NFCR aid

BHUBANESWAR, NOV 30: Orissa government on Thursday admitted in the state assembly that it had not been able to fully utilise Rs 828.15 crore made available to the state from National Fund for Calamity Relief (NFCR) for rehabilitation and reconstruction in the super-cyclone affected areas.

Out of the NFCR assistance received by the state, Rs 712.34 crore had been allotted to different departments and as per the available data Rs 550.32 crore had been spent in the affected areas, Minister for Revenue Biswa Bhusan Harichandan said.

Works in respect of the balance amount were continuing and were targetted to be completed by the end of the current financial year, he said in reply to a question by Panchanan Kanungo and Prafulla Chandra Ghadei (both BJD).

He said, Rs 20 crore had been allotted to the Union Agriculture Ministry towards cost of procurement of relief materials of which Rs 10.38 crore had been spent.

While Rs 17 crore was allotted towards subsidy on providing rabi seeds, the expenditure so far was Rs 9.28 crore. An amount of Rs 8.83 crore had been spent on repair and restoration of embankments for which Rs 15 crore had been provided, he added.
