Dahisar and Virar may face water shortage

NAGPUR, DEC 4: The state government has chalked out an action plan to tackle water shortage in nine villages in the Dahisar suburb of Mumbai and Virar area in Thane district, Minister of state for Water Supply Sulekha Kumbhare said in the legislative assembly here today.

Replying to questions by Vishakha Raut and others, the Minister said the district collectors had been asked to get tube-wells installed, undertake special repairs of water supply schemes, arrange for water supply through water tankers and deepening of bore wells.

Replying to a question by Rekha Khedkar and others, Kumbhare said Chikli vilalge of Buldhana district may face acute drinking water shortage.

To tackle the problem on a war footing, the government has undertaken special efforts and water will be supplied to the people through Pentakli irrigation project, the Minister added.
