Fire guts 8 galas at Bombay Central

MUMBAI, DECEMBER 21: More than eight galas in an industrial estate located behind the Maratha Mandir cinema were gutted after a fire took place early this evening. However, there were no casualties. The fire broke at 3.55 pm in the interiors of the Mamsa Industrial Estate where a host of ubiquitous raw materials and finished goods are manufactured. ``I heard a minor explosion and suddenly all the workers started running outside,'' said Zahid Ali one of the owners of the gala in which seat covers were being manufactured. The estate comprises around 500 such galas.

Though the cause of the fire is not yet confirmed, eye witnesses say that a stove explosion could have been the reason. ``Since there are a lot of open wires in the are, the fire spreads rapidly,'' said D Verma a police officer from the Nagpada police station.
