Vidarbha colts ensure five points

Nagpur, December 25: A fighting 6th-wicket partnership of 112 runs by Harshal Shittoot (78) and Rahul Jadhav (58) steered Vidrbha to gain a vital first innings lead of 17 runs in their first innings against Rajasthan as the match ended in a tame draw on the 3rd and final day in the Central Zone under-22 tournament here at VCA Stadium.

However, the slide was arrested by determined partnership between southpaw Dheeraj Sharma (38) and Rahul Jadhav (58).

Sharma after a sedate start played a breezy knock before ending one to the lone slip. Harshal Shitoot in the company of Rahul Jadhav played a belligerent knock and took away the initiative from the visitors. Samir Khare (20) and Chandrasekhar Atram (8) with some calculated attack put the home team past the Rajasthan total.

Vidarbha thus gained 5 points and now have a total tally of 13 points in two outings. Vidarbha will play against UPCA at Kanpur from December 29.

Brief Scores: Rajasthan: 1st innings 380 all out in 119.3 overs (Siddarth Joshi 126, Saket Bhatia 71 and Dishant Yagnik 30; Rahul Jadhav 3-35, C Atram 3-76) drew

Vidarbha: 1st inning 397 all out in 134.4 overs (Amit Deshpande 92, Adwait Manohar 73, Harshal Shitoot 78, Rahul Jadhav 58 and Dheeraj Sharma 38; Kishan Choudhary 4-111); 2nd innings 21 without loss.
