CPI appeals for united front
UNITED NEWS OF INDIA

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, DEC 26: The Kerala unit of the CPI today launched its week-long celebrations to mark the 75th year of the formation of the Communist Party in India, with an ardent call for the reunification of communist parties.

Inaugurating a state-level function here, state secretary Veliyam Bhargavan termed the split of the communist party in 1964 as `unforturnate'. The movements against the landlords in the past was one of the achievements of the united communist party.

He said only an intense struggle by a united force could save the people from the ill-effects of liberalisation and privatisation in the country.

United agitations against the 'anti-people' policies would pave way for reunification of the communist parties again, he said while addressing the party workers after hoisting the flag.

Flags were hoisted by all the party units across the state as theday was being celebrated as `flag day'. Meeting, seminars, lectures and worshops would form part of the celebrations.
