Dasmunshi meets Chief Minister on Millennium Cup

Calcutta, Dec 26: All India Football Federation(AIFF) President Priya Ranjan Dasmunshi today met West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee to discuss police arrangements for the forthcoming Millennium Cup International football tournament next month.

Calcutta Police had earlier expressed its inability tomake arrangements for the high profile tournament since it would be preoccupied with Sagar Mela in the Sagar islands.

Dasmunshi said the draw of the tournament would be heldon January two at New Delhi. The Chief Minister would be the Chief guest at the inauguration.

Altogether 16 teams would take part in the tournament tobe held at three venues -- Calcutta, Goa and Cochin -- from January 10 to 25.

The refurbished Salt Lake Stadium would host theinaugural ceremony besides two quarter finals, two semi-finals and the final of the tournament.
