Delhi to host a 3-dayer against Aussies

Chennai, January 4: Delhi will host a three-day fixture against the Australian cricket team during its forthcoming tour of India, according to Board of Control for Cricket in India secretary Jaywant Lele.

The dates for the match and the team to play against them will be announced after the Board's working committee meeting here on January 22 in New Delhi, Lele told PTI on phone from Baroda today.

Though the Programmes and Fixtures Committee will have decided the itinerary for the Australians much earlier, it would be announced only after the Working Committee adopts the new rotation system for venues at the New Delhi meeting, he said.

As per the system, no centre will get more than one match, either a Test or a one-dayer or a three-day match, against visiting teams in a calendar year, Lele said.

He said the Board will now extend subsidy also to centres staging three-day matches against visiting teams. So far, this benefit was available to centres hosting Tests and One-day Internationals only.
