MP rights' panel for new law on sex trade
BHOPAL, JAN 7: Madhya Pradesh Human RightsCommission (MPHRC) has recommended the state government to enact law prohibiting dedication of minor girls to sex trade. The law should punish parents, guardians and relatives ofminor girl for her dedication as also her customers, if any, benefitted by the dedication, the Commision said in its latest report. MPHRC asked the State Government to appoint special police officers in all districts to facilitate prosecution, under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act. The report also asked the State Government to establish rescue-homes and lodge liberated liberated sex workers therein free-of-cost, to help them lead a normal life, as recommended by Supreme Court. It further asked the Government to devise a training module for police officers to equip them with necesary legal knowledge to act against persons engaged in the trade. The MPHRC report asked the State Government to provide free education and vocational training to communities involved in sex trade, to economically support themselves and their family, adding free agricultural land or employment should be offered to those who marry daughters of sex workers.
