Hackers put Che on Brazil Defence Ministry site
BRAZIL, JAN 13: Cuban revolutionary leader Ernesto "Che" Guevara greeted visitors to the Brazilian Defense Ministry's Internet site this week after hackers played a prank, ministry sources said on Friday. In the Wednesday night attack, the intruders left the Argentine-born guerrilla's famous portrait in black and white shades. It was taken off the site on Thursday and police said they had launched an investigation. Sources in the ministry said they believed the attack was the work of the so-called Crime Boys--a hacker or group of hackers who have already broken into a number of government sites. ``And you thought that the cboys have forgotten about YOU," said one of the phrases left on the site. In others, the hackers ridiculed the site's protection system. Guevara became a popular hero in Cuba after helping to lead Fidel Castro's rebel army to victory in the 1959 Cuban Revolution. He died in 1967 in a Bolivian army ambush during a foiled attempt to sow Cuban-style revolution there. Copyright © 2001 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
