KOLKATA, JAN 14: The Baranagar Jute Mill, where trade Union violence claimed three lives, including those of two executives yesterday, was today declared closed for an indefinite period with tension around.

District magistrate, Harikrishna Dwibedi said the mill-owner Govind Sharda declared suspension of work for an indefinite period following the violence in which two executives were burnt to death and a worker was shot dead.Rapid action force contined to patrol the area, still under panic and tension, he said.

Meanwhile, bodies of all the three victims were handed over to their family-members after post-mortem. Forensic experts will visit the spot tomorrow, police said.

All the 27 persons, arrested in connection with the violence, were remanded to judicial custody till January 24 by Barrackpore court.

The trouble began yesterday when Chief Executive Officer Jagdamba Prasad Tiwari shot dead a worker. Enraged workers later dragged out Tiwari and general manger (personnel) Gautam Ghosh and burnt them to death.
