Corporatising Bollywood!

Media maverick Pritish Nandy is fast turning his company PNC (short for Pritish Nandy Communications) into a Hollywood-esque studio... His latest responsibility is that of producer on director Rahul Rawail’s latest film, Kuch Khatti Kuch Meethi which opens today. PNC not only comes in as “studio”-producers, but will also market and distribute the Kajol starrer. “We see ourselves as content people,” says Nandy himself, who describes his company’s job as “desigining, promoting and creating content whether for TV channels, cinema halls or for radio stations.” He explains: “Content that drives platforms is our business.”

In a market where transparency in dealings is a rare occurence, Nandy says his company operates differently. “We have no transactions other than those that are contracted, and conducted purely by cheque.” He insists that everything is overboard. “This is the way cinematic productions are going to take place in the future. We want to deal in a coroporate way. That’s the only way we know,” he says.
