113-year old museum becomes history in Bhuj BARODA, JAN 28: Precious Harappan age art pieces, diamonds, paintings and rare ammunition were destroyed after the 113-year old museum in Bhuj was razed to the ground in Friday's earthquake. A three-member team, led by the director of the museum, has left for Bhuj to assess the extent of damage and loss, official sources said on Sunday. All the exhibits housed in this museum have been reportedly destroyed. The articles destroyed included, a statue of Lord Buddha from 7th century, a gun Tipu Sultan gifted to Fateh Mohammed, ruler of Kutch, currency coins in circulation before World War II, miniature paintings of traditional Kutch culture, fine art wooden pieces, diamonds, etc. Meanwhile, four tombs and central hall of the more than a 100 year old museum in the city has also developed cracks.
