Actor Chandrakant mandre passes away

KOLHAPUR, FEB 17: Veteran Marathi film actor and renowned painter, Chandrakant Mandre died following a massive heart attack here on Satruday. He was 88 and is survived by his wife shashikala.

Mandre was rushed to a private hospital after he complained of a chest pain, but he passed away before medical aid could be provided, according to family sources.

He was a popular Marathi actor and has to his credit more than 100 Marathi films. He became a household name after a sterling performance in late Baburao painter's movie `Savkari Pash''. His roles as a `landlord' or a `Patil' were highly appreciated.

Mandre was honoured with the National Award besides, several other awards.
