Advantage govt at court in Balco matter
ENS ECONOMIC BUREAU

NEW DELHI, FEB 26: While the Opposition continued to stall Parliament on the Balco sale issue, the government won a reprieve at the Delhi High Court, where a Public Interest Litigation was filed against the Balco sale. When the Additional Solicitor General pointed out to the Court that the CAG would be auditing all the transactions relating to the disinvestment, the Court asked the petitioners if they wished to press with their petition against the sale.

The petitioners chose to ask for an adjournment, which was granted. However, the Court pointed out that the government was free to take any further steps on the Balco matter.
