Schools honoured for NAB fund-raising
MUMBAI, MARCH 4: Over two hundred schools of Mumbai raised Rs 35 lakh to help set up an institute and other programmes for the visually impaired, informed Dr Shantilal K Somaiya, President, NAB. Over 120 schools received trophies and 700 students were awarded prizes for outstanding collections. Dutt gave an award to Jamnabai Narsee school which topped the list collecting Rs 2.90lakh. The second and third prizes were given to Balmohan Vidya Mandir and the New Era school for raising Rs 2.3 lakh and Rs 1.9 lakh respectively. In the individual collections, film actress Poonam Dhillon presented the first prize to Sunil J Parekh from the SK Somaiya Vinay Mandir who collected the highest amount .The second and third prizes were given to Karishma Jain and Anil Bhandari both of Jamnabai Narsee school. Eminent personalities like film star Jackie Shroff, Jugal Hansraj and gazal singer Talat Aziz also presented awards to the principals, teachers and students. Dr Rajendra Vyas, Honorary Secretary General said that the support and goodwill of the community at large has always stregthened the hands of the organisatios involved in social upliftment such as the NAB.
