Prices of Dettol, Insulin, 13 others to go up

MAR 12: The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) today increased the prices of 14 formulations in the range of 1.1 per cent to 48.24 per cent including antiseptic liquid `Dettol' and `Insulin'.

NPPA has raised prices of Dettol, manufactured by Reckitt Benckiser India Ltd, in the range of 4.11 per cent to 5.60 per cent for packs of 50 ml, 100 ml, 200 ml and 500 ml, an official statement said here.

While the highest price revision of 48.24 per cent has been made in the case of diuretic `Spironolactone' from Knoll Pharmaceuticals, raised from Rs 44.28 to Rs 65.64 for pack of 10 blisters, the lowest of 1.1 per cent is in the case of Hamdard's `Cinkara' health tonic - from Rs 36.50 to 36.90 for 500 ml pack.

Price of Solu-medrol, a Glucocorticoid injection from Pharmacia & Upjohn India, has been increased by 21.11 per cent to Rs 611.02 from Rs 504.53 for 4 ml pack while that of 8 ml pack has been hiked by 20.83 per cent to Rs 996.03 from Rs 824.34, the statement said.

The pharma pricing body has also raised the prices of Bovine Insulin from Knoll Pharma by 21.94 per cent to Rs 88.38 from Rs 72.48 for 10 ml vial and insulin zinc suspension by 22.23 per cent to Rs 88.42 from Rs 72.34.

NPPA fixed for the first time prices of Abbot Labs Ltd's anti-oxidant formulation at Rs 14.85 for pack of 10 tablets and Rs 45.35 for a bottle of 30 tablets. Prices of erthromycin solution used for acne treatment by Boots Pharmaceuticals, Aknemycin has been fixed at Rs 26.92, the release said.

It has fixed the price of imported insulin, by Cadila Pharma Pvt Ltd `Rapsuilin' and `Lentisuilin' at Rs 110.50 for 10 ml pack and Lentisuilin with zinc at Rs 78.52. Prices of insulin formulation by Knoll Pharma has been fixed at Rs 136.34 for 10 ml vial, it added.

The revised prices will become effective within 15 days from the date of notification in the official Gazette.
