Gill skirts question on Jayalalitha contesting polls
PRESS TRUST OF INDIA

NEW DELHI, MARCH 12: Chief Election Commissioner M S Gill today skirted a question whether AIADMK supremo Jayalalitha, who has been convicted for three years, would be allowed to contest the coming Assembly polls in Tamil Nadu.

"This is not an occasion to respond to a question on any individual. There are laws and separate procedures for contesting elections. They will follow," Gill said when asked whether she would be allowed to contest.

Asked what the legal positions were, the CEC said, "You better study them".
