Haque may not resign – Laloo
ARUN SRIVASTAVA

PATNA, MARCH 25: Beleaguered RJD chief Laloo Prasad Yadav on Saturday succeeded in warding off the resignation of Minister of State for Welfare, Ezazul Haque, in protest against the government’s statement implicating Shahabuddin in the Siwan episode, with a firm commitment he would to do his best to clear his name.

‘‘There is no question of accepting Haque’s resignation. Rabri Devi has decided not to accept it,’’ RJD president Laloo Prasad Yadav told reporters here. ‘‘There’s some misunderstanding... things will be sorted out,’’ he added.

However, Haque, a close relative of Shahabuddin, told newsmen that he would not withdraw his resignation till his demand for suspending policemen involved in the killing of villagers in Pratapur, including SP (now transferred) B.S Meena, is not met.
