National Museum employees file fresh plea on ‘fake artefacts’
NEW DELHI, MARCH 25: The Delhi High Court accepted on Saturday a fresh petition by National Archives and Museums employees Union seeking probe into the alleged replacement of certain valuable artefacts in the museum, which it alleged had been replaced with fake ones. A division bench comprising Chief Justice Arijit Passayat and Justice D K Jain after a brief hearing on Friday, posted the matter for further arguments on April 30. The fresh petition was filed by the Union, which had demanded verification of all the artefacts, as the court had on December 14 disposed of its earlier writ after Government counsel Prathibha Singh stated that the verification would be completed in two years. The petitioner had alleged that CAG Inida in its report for 1991-92 and CBI in its official bulletin in May 1992 had raised doubts about the originality of certain valuable artefacts.
