Moin disappointed over Board's poor response
Islamabad, March 30: Pakistan captain Moin Khan, nursing an injury in New Zealand, expressed his disappointment with the lack of concern from Pakistan Cricket Board officials towards his health, while team coach Javed Miandad, under threat to lose his job stepped up his campaign to get an extension. According to reports from Hamilton where Pakistan played the final Test against New Zealand, Moin Khan, whose captaincy was under threat, has said he was totally surprised and upset that no one from PCB has bothered to call him and inquire about his injury. The wicket-keeper turned captain, who opted out of the Test due to knee injury, told the Pakistan daily The News, “when you are the captain of the National team, one expects some response or concern on part of the board if you are injured. I am very disappointed that even though I had to sit out of such an important match due to my knee problem, no one from the board until now has bothered to give me a call and find out how serious the injury is or what treatment I am undergoing”. Senior batsman Inzamamul Haq has been deputed to replace Moin Khan as captain for the match. Copyright © 2001 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
