Japan set to decide poll date for PM
TOKYO: JAPAN’s lame-duck Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori planned to meet ruling party executives on Monday to discuss an election date, moving Japan a step closer to finding a new leader. Mori was expected to hold talks with top executives of hisLiberal Democratic Party (LDP) later in the day and urge them to set the timetable and other details for the party leadership race, party officials said. While April 22 had been tipped as a likely date for the poll,the Nihon Keizai Shimbun Financial daily said at the weekend that may now be difficult due to clashes with the Imperial Household’s schedule.
