Devotees ask Bhujbal to dissolve Babulnath trust
APRIL 3: Bhalchandra Joshi, the former head pujari of the Babulnath temple, who was removed from his post by the trustees and other devotees today made written representations to Deputy Chief Minister Chaggan Bhujbal to intervene in the matter. They have requested him to dissolve the trust commmittee and reinstate the pujari. Yesterday several devotees protested outside the temple against the removal of the pujari and alleging misappropriation of funds by the trustees. A hunger strike begun in the morning was called off only at the behest of several political leaders cutting across party lines. Raju Merchant of the Nationalist Congress Party , who joined in the protest, said, ``We have given the trustees four days' time to reinstate the pujari. Several Hindu organisations have said they will support us and said they would even stage Maha-artis all over the city in protest. But we have told them not to go ahead as Bharatiya Janata Party leaders, Atul Shah and Raj Purohit assured us they will raise this issue in the assembly during zero hour.''
