Cong to launch anti-BJP drive from Nagpur MUMBAI, APRIL 3: Congress President Sonia Gandhi will flag off the party's anti Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA government campaign from Nagpur, the headquarters of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. The choice of venue for this `janandolan' is significant as Bangaru Laxman, the former BJP president, is a die-hard swayamsevak. Gandhi will address a public rally in the evening on April 7. Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh is personally supervising and co-ordinating this rally. In a statement to the Press, Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee president Govindrao Adik has stated that the Nagpur rally will indicate the direction the party should take during the proposed campaign in the state. Party heavyweights Madhavrao Scindia, Gulam Nabi Azad, Digvijay Singh, Ambika Soni and Motilal Vora will attend the rally. Gandhi will also flag off the campaign for the Vidharba, Marathwada, Western Maharashtra, North Maharashtra, Mumbai and Konkan regions. The MPCC has already mobilised its cadre throughout the state to ensure that the rally is well attended. Partymen will don black badges throughout the campaign in the state. After Nagpur, Gandhi will embark on a whirlwind tour of the country to generate awareness amongst the people about the misdeeds of the Vajpayee government.
