Rajya Sabha

SUPRIYA SULE was present in the House. She asked a supplementary question on the education of tribal children during the Question Hour. She also had five unstarred questions against her name over whether the UGC was taking any steps to reform higher education, would the Government would bring a law to guarantee right to education and was it was considering FDI in education. She also sought to know about the government policy on security concerns related to participation of foreign companies in hydropower projects in areas near the international border.

B J PANDA was present in the House. He participated in the walkout staged by the NDA on the controversy surrounding Union Minister T R Baalu's sons' company. Panda had five unstarred questions pertaining to public-private partnership in education, cultivation of jatropha in some areas of Orissa, Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana in Orissa and the proposal to open residential schools for girls in Orissa. He also wanted to know about the status of an Orissa Government proposal to spend Rs 600 crore to augment its power generation.

RAJEEV CHANDRASEKHAR was in Karnataka to campaign for some Independent candidates. He had four unstarred questions listed against his name, pertaining to allocation for education in the 11th Plan, mid-day meal scheme in Karnataka, vacancies in regulator and appellate tribunals and the status of a Kerala Government proposal for restoring the retirement cycle of MLC from local authorities quota to two years.

KANIMOZHI was out of Delhi. She had two unstarred questions listed against her name -- the status of child mortality in the country, and a World Bank-supported programme on malnutrition.

Lok Sabha:

RAHUL GANDHI was missing.

DUSHYANT SINGH showed up after several days. Moved over to the second row and stood up during Question Hour to join NDA protest over the T R Baalu issue. He, however, did not come to the Well. He had a starred question relating to funds for River Basin Projects.

JYOTIRADITYA SCINDIA was complimented by Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee for his maiden intervention after he tabled papers relating to his ministry.

NAVEEN JINDAL was seen flashing a copy of the list of starred questions to be taken up when NDA members disrupted House proceedings. He had an unstarred question relating to publication of new telephone directory. 

SACHIN PILOT, DEEPENDER HOODA, PRIYA DUTT, SANDEEP DIKSHIT and JITIN PRASADA were present in the House.

SHAMIK LAHIRI, MILIND DEORA, MEHBOOBA MUFTI, SUKHBIR BADAL, OMAR ABDULLAH, MANVENDRA SINGH and AKHILESH YADAV were missing.
