Patiala: Navjot Kaur, wife of cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu, was rushed to a Patiala hospital in a semi-conscious state tonight.

Sidhu, who was in Amritsar, rushed to Patiala and visited his wife in the hospital but did not talk to the media as he was unwell.

Doctors said though she was admitted in a serious condition, she was out of danger and would be discharged on Sunday.

Dr Sudhir Verma, head of the Sadbhavana Hospital, confirmed that the BJP MP’s wife was brought to the hospital in a semi-conscious state. Asked about the possibility of a suicide attempt, he said: “I cannot say if she tried to commit suicide by consuming anything poisonous but she is suffering from food poisoning and dehydration, following which we have kept her in the Intensive Care Unit.”
