The Indian cricket board has reportedly said it will play an “active role” in helping Bangladesh cricket recover after 13 players quit the national fold to join the Indian Cricket League.
Cricinfo website quotes BCCI vice-president Lalit Modi saying that the BCCI will include more Bangladesh players in the IPL player auctions next year. “We will definitely play an active role in helping them out,” Modi was quoted as saying. “We are looking at adding a few (Bangladesh) players for the next IPL auction.”
Modi also said that the BCCI will include a team in the Champions Twenty20 League from 2010. “We are also looking at a team from Bangladesh participating in the Champions League from 2010 onwards,” he reportedly said.
Executive member of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, Ahmed Sajjadul Alam, had been quoted as saying that the board hoped the BCCI would help revive the game by inviting more players for these cash-rich tournaments.
