Demanding that all police personnel be provided with firearms, Vandana Patane, the elder daughter of Assistant Sub-Inspector Tukaram Omble, said her father may have saved his life if he was armed during his encounter with Ajmal Kasab. He was armed only with a lathi. She also demanded that Kasab be sentenced to death as soon as possible.

“If Papa had a weapon at that time, perhaps his life could have been saved,” she said. “There are a number of steps necessary to be taken for the police force, adequate arms and ammunition need to be provided,” said Vandana, while speaking on the sidelines of the inauguration of a photo exhibition organised at the state BJP office on the first anniversary of the 26/11 terror attacks.
