Taking a dig at Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal's statement at the NRI Sammelan, Congress MP Pratap Bajwa said by administering a public dressing down to his son, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh, and Revenue MinisterBikramjit Singh Majithia, the patriarch has woken up from a long slumber.

"He has cleared some of the confusion prevailing in political and administrative circles about who s running the government. But though it is welcome, Badal's speech is not enough. He must implement the advice given by him to his son and Majithia in letter and spirit. As a follow up to the statement , Majithia must be dropped from the Cabinet for his acts of omission and commission.

"He has defiled the sanctity of the House by indulging in unparliamentarily behaviour of the worst kind. He has also made the position of Badal as Leader of the House untenable," Bajwa said in a press statement.

Stating that this sorry episode is not the only example of misdemeanours committed by the duo, he said earlier Sukhbir had prevented his CM from speaking in the Assembly when he had sought to make amends for Majithia's misbehaviour. "Even on Saturday, Sukhbir left the venue of the NRI Sammelan while the CM was speaking.

"This is not just a sign of a lack of grace but shows an absence of adherence to democratic norms. The contempt shown towards the elder statesman was palpable. This is not acceptable to the people of Punjab who hold the venerable patriarch in high esteem," he added.

Citing an Urdu couplet, he said, "Tu idhar udhar ki na baat kar, yeh bata ki kafila luta kyon. Mujhe rahzanon se garaz nahin, teri rehbari ka sawaal hai (Don't beat around the bush, tell us who is looting the state).
