‘Amarinder trying to tarnish SAD’s image’

The government on Thursday accused Punjab Congress chief Captain Amarinder Singh of deliberately trying to tarnish SAD's image on every unfortunate incident that happens in the state.

Reacting to Amarinder raising a hue and cry over breach of law by SAD workers and targeting Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia, the party, in a statement, said: "...Congressmen were adopting the same tactics and double standards to divert the attention of people from the worst law and order situation in the national capital and Congress-ruled states like Haryana, Rajasthan and Kerla by charging SAD for every unfortunate incident in the state."

It added: "If at all SAD is to be put in the dock for the issue, then measuring by the same yardstick, should PM and Sonia Gandhi not resign or at least drop his tainted ministers? In the case of Congress, it is not a matter of an unknown party worker or two but it has given tickets to elements charged with murder, misappropriation of government money, moral turpitude, disproportionate assets, corruption and even been booked under arms act."

Passi pat for Punjab Police

NRI Paramjit Singh Passi, who was accompanying AIG S S Mand when they were allegedly beaten up at The Hub, on Thursday thanked the state government for arresting the culprits in 24 hours.
