Courtyard Marriot hotel on Friday received a letter allegedly sent by terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), threatening to blow it up if it hosted any US guest. The letter said JeM was against an anti-Islam US movie made by a US national.

The letter received by the hotel authorities in the morning was written in Hindi. "Aapke hotel mein bomb rakha hai. Hotel ko bachana chahte ho to bacha lo... (There is a bomb in your hotel. Save it if you want to...)."

Though authorities at the five-star hotel alerted police about the letter, they avoided lodging an FIR saying it would harm their reputation, Satellite police said.

DCP (Zone I) Neeraj Badgujar said, "We have been tipped off about the bomb threat but we have not received any official information from the hotel. Police have checked the hotel and bomb squad has been alerted."

Police sources said the hotel did no co-operate when bomb and dog squads went there for checking and that they had to leave without checking the entire premises.

The hotel, meanwhile, issued a statement saying it "will cooperate with local authorities". "Numerous establishments, including us, have received the letter from a militant outfit stating a security threat to the international fraternity in the city. Whilst we continue to ensure topmost security and safety of our customers through our internal procedures, we will cooperate with local authorities for any measures that need to be implemented," said the statement.
