MLA 'spotted', cops pass the buck
Ahmedabad: Jetha Bharwad, the BJP MLA who allegedly slipped out of police detention from Apollo Hospital, was later reportedly found sitting among his community members in Jashodanagar area of Ahmedabad.
The Vatva GIDC police, under whose jurisdiction Jashodanagar falls, said they had received similar information but could not arrest the MLA unless ordered by their senior officers.
DCP (Zone VI) P C Baranda, however, said, "We do not have this information. Even if we had, we can only assist the Godhra police if they come to arrest him."
When contacted, Panchmahals SP Sachin Badshah said, "We are still hunting for him and have no specific information on his location." Bharwad had earlier landed in a row where he was allegedly found watching a porn clip on a mobile inside the state Assembly when the session was underway.
Facts don't add up
Bharwad was brought to Ahmedabad in his own car instead of a police van. Police party too travelled in private cars. Bharwad "fled" from the hospital in his own car.
Bharwad's guard had told Panchamahals police the MLA had himself fired after taking the rifle from his hands. However, police maintained that the guard had fired from his rifle, a version also put out by the DGP in a press release.
